The objective was to design an e-commerce platform tailored for a subscription-based cat food service. The focus was on creating a user-friendly interface that simplifies the subscription process, ensuring that cat owners can easily navigate and manage their recurring food orders. Emphasis was placed on intuitive design elements, seamless navigation, and clear information architecture to enhance the overall user experience, making it straightforward for customers to select, customize, and maintain their cat food subscriptions.
My role was to design and prototype an e-commerce platform that caters to the specific needs of cat owners seeking a convenient solution for purchasing cat food. This involved incorporating insights from competitive audits and usability studies to understand the features and functionalities that resonate with this audience and foster repeat business. I also create all graphic element and created cohesive branding for the site.
The primary challenge was to effectively integrate a subscription-based model for purchasing cat food into the platform. This required a design approach that made the subscription option appealing and straightforward for customers.
Frequency of Purchase: Customers often struggle to determine how often they need to buy cat food. This is compounded by product descriptions that only provide weight in grams or ounces, making it difficult to estimate how long a bag will last when feeding guidelines are given in cups.
Access to Prescription-Based Food: Not all platforms offer cat food that meets specific veterinary prescriptions. It's crucial to provide an easy way for customers to obtain such specialized products.
Efficient Product Selection: With a vast array of cat food options available, customers can feel overwhelmed. The platform needs to facilitate a quick and stress-free decision-making process for choosing the right food.
To address these pain points, the design strategy included:
- Simplifying the process of determining purchase frequency by providing clear, easily understandable guidelines on the quantity of food required based on various dietary needs.
- Ensuring the platform supports a smooth process for ordering prescription-based cat food, including easy verification and integration with veterinary professionals.
- Implementing a streamlined navigation system and robust filtering options to help customers quickly find the most suitable food options for their cats, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.
The solution was to create an e-commerce experience that is highly informative, easy to understand, and a breeze to navigate, ensuring that customers feel confident about getting the best deal possible.

Send your prescription requests directly to your chosen vet with ease. This service is straightforward for pet owners and offers simple sign-up for vets who aren't already enrolled.
